28th in Attendance, Sixers lower ticket prices
![]() |
When the 76ers committed $160 million to Andre Iguodala and Elton Brand this offseason surely they imagined the Wachovia Center packed with loud and happy fans cheering them on.
They were coming off a year in which they exceeded every expectations, had replaced an unpopular general manager with a hometown boy, and made the “it” signing of the offseason, snatching EB away from the Clippers. They had shown they were good, played hard, and were committed to winning - I’m guessing they assumed this would translate into increased attendance numbers.
Not so. A combination of Phillies fatigue, a slumping economy, and the Sixers’ slow start has left the Wachovia Center as the 28th least attended in pro basketball. That’s not good.
In an effort to combat this trend the Sixers are announcing that they will be offering $10 tickets to all remaining games through December:
The Philadelphia 76ers are now offering a limited number of $10 tickets in the mezzanine level for all remaining home games at the Wachovia Center in November and December. There will be 2,000 specially priced $10 tickets available per game, with the November games courtesy of the Sixers 2008-09 season presenting sponsor Revolution Card, while in December the offer is courtesy of team sponsor Taco Bell® and KFC®.
Here’s hoping this works - the Sixers have a young, exciting team that could use the town’s support. Click the link if you’re interested in the details.

28th most empty? Or better: 28th least attended? (since each arena has a different capacity)
Thanks for the heads upon the tickets BTW, I’m not always so pedantic
Fair enough … line has been changed, h/t tofoomeister
