Sixers Preview, Last Call Rounds

The Sixers had the weekend off from actual games, so they spent it focused on rudimentary spacing drills. Tonight, they’re back in action and trying to improve upon their 2-4 mark against Kyle Korver and the Jazz.
The Players: The Sixers’ opponents have 27 more steals than they have, and the Sixers have committed 35 more turnovers than their opponents. Those are the type of stats that can kill a team, and the type of stats that start with the guards. Along with his thus-far awful shooting, Andre Iguodala has been struggling with aggressiveness and decision making in his new role as shooting guard, but with Thaddeus Young’s emergence a shift back to small forward where he seems more comfortable isn’t feasible. He needs to step up.
Andre Miller took three times as many shots at Elton Brand last game, which isn’t going to work. It’s early, but if the Sixers are going to turn it around it is going to be on the shoulders of those two.
On the other end of the court I’ve heard rumors that all-star guard Deron Williams could make his season debut for the Jazz. Williams, who averaged 18.8 points and 10.5 assists last year, has been out with an ankle. Center Memut Okur is also off for personal reasons, so if Williams isn’t available the Sixers need to take advantage - especially with the Jazz on the tail end of a road back-to-back.
The Chase: We’re literally months away from watching the standings, but if the Sixers don’t start showing some semblance of team the town’s patience is going to run out quickly.
