 Morning Rounds, November 4th

categories | Sixers, Uncategorized

Some days it’s easier to not pay attention to sports than others - when the Phillies were in the midst of their World Series run I don’t think I returned a phone call or met with a friend for something not based around the games once.  Today is not one of those days.  There is plenty of interesting sports stories - AI to Detroit means a lot for the NBA of today and tomorrow, Thaddeus Young is developing into a star, this man is starting NFL quarterback, etc. etc. etc. - but I still keep wondering off to election news, checking polls, and reading endless commentary.

“We vote as many, but we pray as one.” - Adlai Stevenson

and as a special double feature …

“The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.” - Churchill

Three lines on their world:

  1. It’s Election Day

  2. Allen Iverson was traded to the Pistons

  3. And Pittsburgh handled Washington

Three lines on ours:

  1. The Sixers waxed the Kings

  2. Ruben Amaro officially took over

  3. and the Flyers have reached out to Brendan Shanahan

Phillies, Birds, Sixers, Flyers and what everybody is talking about after the jump

TODAY and MORE

Like every fake political junkie I try not to show it often, but I’m totally a fake political junkie.  Even this election season when I “swore off” politics, I read the papers, the Plank, the Corner, Drum, Sullivan, Ygleias, and RCP, pretty much every day, and check out all the rest at least once a week. All of which goes to say: today is pretty interesting to me (even if nothing happens until tonight).  I’ll be here all day and be posting whatever snarky observations I can, but like one of Robert Jarvik’s patients, my heart won’t really be in it.

As always, feel free to email with any questions, suggestions, comments or complaints.
