Joe Biden appears with Jimmy Rollins, doesn’t understand his role
Jimmy Rollins spent last night big-upping Barack Obama with soon-to-be VP Joe Biden in Marconi Plaza. ABC News has the details:
“[I]f Barack Obama’s the Jimmy Rollins of the ticket, I feel like Jamie Moyer,” Biden said, referencing the Phils’ 45-year old pitcher.
“You know, you know, the reliever,” he told the crowd.
Jamie Moyer is a reliever? Not since Clinton’s first team he’s not. (Maybe he came out of the bullpen in game six) Look, I don’t begrudge J-Roll for trying to get his candidate elected at all, but I do begrudge a campaign that changes their message to win votes. Biden is not a Phillies fan - that much is clear - the fact that he’s pretending to be cheapens all the good things he has to say. “Vote for me because of [insert policy]” is the message I want to hear. “Vote for me because … the Phillies!” is nonsense.
