Morning Rounds, September 11th
In the 7th inning of last night’s Phillies game, with Brett Myers at 100+ pitches in a tie game, Charlie had Myers come to the plate instead of trusting his bullpen. It didn’t work - Brett got one out, left with men at the corners, and absorbed the loss when Chad Durbin couldn’t keep the Marlins off the board - but think it was the right call and it showed a lot about Brett that he wanted to keep the ball in that situation. At the same time, it also shows how much confidence Cholly has lost in the pen, and then after that how much that loss of confidence is justified.
Onto Dallas, I suppose.
“I’ll pitch tomorrow, if it gets us into the playoffs, I don’t care.” - Brett Myers, asked if he would be willing to throw on short rest Sunday
Three lines on their world:
- The Angels are in the playoffs
- The NFL injuries continue to pile up
- and the Rays and the Red Sox played a good one
Three lines on ours:
- Phils lose and prepare to welcome the wild card leading
Brewers
- Who did not lose
- and Andre Miller says - to my knowledge for the first time - that he likes Philly
Phillies, Birds, Sixers, Flyers and more remembering after the jump
